Makeup Collection And Storage 2012

A few days ago, I uploaded a video on my youtube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/sweet89surrender , showing my makeup collection and storage. Today, I felt that I would love to share in detail some of my favorite products.  I am constantly trying new things, but these are some of my gems which have won my highest standards.

   *FACE PRODUCTS*

I have been on the hunt for years for skin products that work with my texture and tone.  Being lighter than most, sometimes this has proven to be not only a challenge, but time consuming.
In regards to foundation, my mother has been a great asset in scoping out the best affordable coverage.  I have a high opinion of Cover Girl. I have used their products since high school. At the moment, I have the Cover Girl creamy natural #120 liquid foundation.  This is a darker shade than I normally use, but as I had been tanning, I picked it up. Normally, I wear the ivory. This is perfect for "spot" cover ups.  For powder (and to practice contouring), I have been using my Cover Girl Clean #535 medium light.  I love how light this powder is and for using so little, it has excellent coverage. So easy to blend!
I love my bronzer! It was recommend by bethany07 on youtube.  I bought it last year and fell in love!  If I use very little, it gives my face a soft sun kissed look.  I am referring to my Rimmel London Natural Bronzer ( #025 Sun Glow).   This also blends very easily. And for being fair skinned, a little goes a long way!  I purchased this and the products I mentioned above, at my local Walmart.

Lately, I have been dazzled by the XOXO Blush from http://www.i-candycouture.com/shop.html#ecwid:category=2125972&mode=product&product=9025776 , which I use almost daily!  It has a gorgeous pinky dusty shimmer, with gold undertones.  I can wear it with just about any look.  I truly believe this blush can be for most skin tones.  It is soft, and subtle, yet the gold reflects just offer a bit of glitz!
XOXO - Blush
This is so pretty!
For more neutral, more earthy toned looks, I use my Jane Be Pure Organic Blushstix in Shimmering Brown quite often.  This stick is very creamy when applied, but bendable thereafter.  It almost works like a bronzer in its own right.  I am very disappointed my local stores no longer sell this product. I got it on clearance one day when they were doing away with Jane Be Pure products and bringing in new.  Now they have other organic makeup, that costs twice as much!  So, I bought what they had in a hurry.  Hopefully, I will be able to find something else, in future, when I run out.
I have one face primer, also purchased at Walmart.  It is from Hard Candy and called Sheer Envy.  This product is amazing!  When applied on my entire face first, before everything else, once I am finished with my makeup--hours later I still look "freshly" applied.  I did some research on this product online before buying it.  After I opened to try it, I noticed it has this clumpy-like texture.  However, it felt so smooth as I blended it out on my face. It has been my go to ever since.

**LIPS**

The drugstore lipsticks that have been my favorites since I was a teenager have been NYC #411B Snowcone, and NYC #419 English Rose. Snowcone, I have to say, is the one I have used the most. At the moment, I have a third of it left.  I wear this typically, during the day. It is a soft dusty pink shimmer; almost a nude tone.  What is so great about these lipsticks is that they are so creamy! You get that chic glamour when you apply it like any other lipstick, but it is more like a buttery gloss. AMAZING!! The English Rose is more of a bold, bright pink.  I sometimes wear this when I feel more daring and want to play around with some color. These also can be found at Walmart.
My ABSOLUTE go to drugstore brand for moisturizing my lips is my E.O.S. lip balm. A few years ago, when I first joined the youtube community, I noticed advertisements for this product everywhere.  I later recognized it at my local drugstore and decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did.  It is so smoothing, compact, and so much fun to toss in my purse and go.  A few weeks ago, a friend of mine from church was venting to me one day that she runs out of chap stick so fast.  I bought her one in hopes that it would help. Now, she also loves it.  I really admire the packaging. It looks so cute-almost like a little egg!
I crave the smell of coconut. It reminds me of summer, of pina colada fruitistas that Taco Bell used to sell, of tanning lotion; so one can only imagine my delight when I found http://www.i-candycouture.com came out with a Cocoa Nut lipgloss. The pigmentation is astounding, and the smell is spot on!
Cocoa-Nut Lipgloss
I AM TOTALLY ADDICTED!!
Love Me - lipgloss
"Love Me" is such a sweetie.
I-Candy Couture has been coming out with some sweet smellin' lippies! A couple other I have of theirs are Enchanted (smells like cotton candy!!) and Love Me.  Enchanted is like a sheer pinky red lip jelly, while Love me is a clear glittery gloss. Both are very moisturizing. Also in my collection of lip treats, I have 24k Pink lip gloss and Marilyn Lipstick.  The 24k Pink  is a very glittery pink, and the Marilyn Lipstick lives up to its name and is a vibrant red.

24K Pink Lipgloss

Marilyn - Lipstick

A good drugstore brand, red lipstick I own, is Milani's #44 Red Delicious. It is a true red with no pink undertones, and is embossed with gold glitter.  I love to wear this with a daring, bold smokey eye. It is very pigmented, and difficult to completely remove, I find. I purchased it at my local CVS Pharmacy.  Like the NYC lipsticks, it has a creamy texture.

After years of scouting, and searching, I have discovered, so far, the most perfect nude lip gloss. NYC's Nude York City is very smooth, natural looking, and it has an amazing sugary scent. This product can be found at local drugstores.

**EYES**

I-Candy Fix, Eye shadow Primer
My first stop before applying eye shadows.
A few months ago, I purchased a really good eyelid primer from http://www.i-candycouture.com , and it works amazingly!  My shadows stay on all day, with or without a base! It is so creamy and easy to apply.  I use it daily before putting on my shadows.  I am hoping to get more when I run out.
My top fav's for loose eye shadows, from http://www.i-candycouture.com so far are: Breaking Dawn, New Moon, Audrey, Mermaid Serenade, Colors of the Wind, Cupid, Love Always, Candy Cane,  Peaches n Cream, Happy Thoughts, Maui, Ice Queen, Desire, and Sincerely.  As of right now, I have twenty-six sample sized eye shadow pigments, and five full sized pigments (and since they just recently came out with a spring collection, and two hello kitty inspired collections, I am itching to get some more eye candy!).

I have two 88 palettes. One brights and one neutrals.  I like the brights more.  It has all colors; brights and neutrals in many different shades. Some are mattes and some are shimmers.  I bought this also from I-Candy Couture, however at the moment they are not selling them.  I have hopes that some day they will be able to bring it back.  I would love to do tutorials with it, but would like to wait until they do. So, then viewers would have the option of finding that one if they wish.
There are a few eye kits and palettes, that I use quite often. Recently, I did a NYX bronze smokey eye using their bronze smokey eye kit.  I normally wear this when the sun is shining and I am in a hurry to go some where. In less than ten minutes I am ready to hit the road. Same goes with my natural eye kit from Rue21.  I am considering doing a tutorial on this one, as well.  I love using it for everyday makeup. It even comes with suggestions for application.  Considering it is a dupe for a major brand, and I only paid $6.99 for it, that is an awesome deal!
Lately, I have been testing some L.A. Colors metallic palettes for budget friendly makeup tutorials.  They cost around a dollar at Dollar General. If applied with good primer, and even a base, they are quite pigmented and look amazing.  Right now, I am loving the "Darling" palette.  Not too long ago, I also did a school girl make up tutorial using it.  It looks so soft and natural; effortless, really.
I have two black mascaras, at the moment: one black, waterproof L.A. Colors and the Maybelline New York Colossal Volum' Express.  The L.A. Colors one I do not like.  As I close it, the mascara excretes from the rim.  Considering I have the Colossal Volum' as an alternative, I will probably be pitching it soon.  The Colossal works okay.  The two best mascaras I have ever tried are the Jane Be Pure organic, and Maybelline XXL. Jane Be Pure's organic one had olive oil in it. My lash seemed to grow fuller and longer whenever I used it.  The Maybelline XXL had an amazing thickening mousse you would apply before the mascara. It worked wonders.  My local drugstores quite selling the Jane Be Pure organic mascara, unfortunately. As soon as my Colossal Volum' runs out, I plan to pick up a new Maybelline XXL.  That was one mascara I used so much, it was gone long before it dried up.  It is a product that I miss.

My only base right now, is my NYX eye shadow jumbo pencil in milk. I have depot-ted it into a small container to avoid wasting the product from sharpening it. This works like a really good base. It adheres to my shadows very well, and brightens all my looks.

I use the same eyeliners in all my tutorials. I will use a liquid and I use my CoverGirl perfect point plus in Black Onyx.  Quite frankly, I do not like my perfect point plus. The application is a breeze. I do like that, but I have to touch up throughout my day, for it smudges underneath my bottom water line. This is quite aggravating.  I am still searching for something that will be just as easy to apply but more effective and long lasting.  So until then, I continue to use what I have.

mark. Rebel Rose Perfume Review

I am aware that this scent, released in 2008, is now discontinued by mark avon. However, feeling that this fragrance can still be found on eBay, I still wanted to do a review for this product.
I purchased this perfume shortly after my wedding, in 2008.  Every time I spray it on, memories come flooding back...our first apartment, the crisp fall air,  the exciting joys of being newly weds; it's like coming back home to a safe place, before the poor economy hit our lives like a hurricane, before the struggles, and before all the daily demands strained us as lovers and as individuals...
I do have quite a bit left; I hope they bring it back before I run out!
For me personally, this is my pick me up.  I do have quite a bit left, as I use it sparingly (because I can no longer find it easily at avon).  After research online, I found some had given it a rating of 3.5, and everyone is titled to their own opinion. I rate it 4.5.  This is one of my best scents, and I do have many fragrances, ranging from cheap impressions, to avon, to a designer.  I normally wear this scent when I am going out at night. I normally dislike musks, but because this has just enough vanilla to soften it, I find myself quite enthralled.  It has been my go to for girls' night out, late night shopping at the mall, and the rare date night.  I actually did purchase it when Avon, at the time, had a sale. My husband was making very good money then, before the economy took a bad turn. This was one of four perfumes I bought. This was where my perfume collection started.
Then notes are divinely intertwined. A symphony of notes that entails rose, spiced with pink pepper, pink musk, and a dash of vanilla.  This scent is not for everyone. Some find it to strong, while other rose-lovers, as myself, adore it.
I do hope one day, when I do run out, that I will be able to find it. This once was priced at eighteen dollars from avon, now it can be found on eBay or Amazon. Prices ranging from 49.99 to 24.99. So, the price has gone up considerably since its first release, as is the case with many discontinued fragrances. I would recommend finding a sample size online, if one is unsure about spending so much on a perfume they have never tried.
I love this fragrance. I do hope that mark. Avon brings it back (along with another scent they discontinued that I will be running out of soon).

Blog Entry-Just moved and Possibly Moving Again? 04-13-12

My heart sank when I received a phone call yesterday.  A lady at a trailer park called and left a message for my husband about a trailer for sale for only a thousand dollars; only work that was needed was aesthetics.  We have just moved in this week to a beautiful apartment.  It has a fireplace, french doors, two porches, an amazing view of the country on the outskirts of town, four rooms, a kitchen with windows, a storage hallway, and a laundry room.  It is so bright and big at an amazing price...
Hubby has been wanting to move some where cheaper. I cannot say I blame him.  Working overtime almost every week to see most of it eaten away by expenses; not having much leftover for healthy food or savings.  To buy the trailer (with first three months free rent) would be financially smart. I am trying to be excited for the opportunity.  We would be able to afford a decent second vehicle to get me to and from school, a decent sized emergency fund, saving toward the honey moon we never had, savings and investments toward retirement and babydoll's college education. We could be saving while I do my schooling for the next six year for a degree as an RN.  However, I am so sick of moving. Since we have been married (almost 4 years now we have moved almost ten times-in and out).  I am weary of the cleaning, packing, stress, the deadlines--all on top of my everyday chores and responsibilities.

Our kitchen in our current apartment now...

Today, we went to look at the trailer.  I actually prayed at one point that it would be so unbearable that my husband would desert his fantasy.  I saw the porch steps. They looked like new (as with the awning over it). I saw the walls in the home. They were intact. I saw the kitchen. It was a decent size with many cupboards. A few need the fronts fixed. The living room was large. The bathroom could fit a small washer and dryer. Would could be babydoll's room was larger than the one she has now.  The master bedroom was larger than the one we have now, as well as the closet.  Oh, dear, I thought grimly, this is going to appeal to him. Everything will be so easy to fix. Cupboard doors can be replaced, coat of paint on the shed door,...they even said they would fix the roof and pull the carpet and we then could replace the carpet...other than that, everything is fine. And it is cheap.

Had I not been so in love with our current home, I would have found it cute.  There were decent windows in the kitchen, large windows in the master bedroom that faced fields, and even some cupboards in the kitchen with glass doors.  The cabinetry, minus some damages, was nice.  The lady told us she would give us the weekend to think it over.  As soon as we went to our car, hubby was animated with ideas with what we could do with all the savings. She even had told us we could get the first three months free as a special.

"We could get hi-speed Internet," hubby got excited. "I could get a moped--."

"No moped!" I interrupted.

"It's not like a motorcycle," he interjected.

"I don't care." I stuck my chin out in defiance. "We have a baby now.  No bikes."

"Yeah...your right...but think just how much money we would be saving!"

I wasn't yet convinced, that is, until I came home and did the numbers.  I was blown away. It has been my dream to have a fully funded emergency fund of ten thousand. Just in case he ever got unemployed ever again. We lived at my parents when we ran out of money then.  I love my family, but I don't ever want us to be a financial burden again.  So after doing the math, I realized we would have that emergency fund in full in less than two years.  Our regular expenses would still be payed, we would still have play money, and we would have a safety net; and after I get my degree in six years, we should have enough for a down payment for a nice house, and I can easily work it off.

Financially it is smart. He is right.  I just get to attached to where we live sometimes.  We rent. Our home isn't ours to keep, and of course I'll get over it.  Thank God we even have the means to afford a home. I thank Him for what we do have. We have our health, food, each other, our belongings. WE ARE BLESSED! God has always provided for us through everything. My family, and my relationship with my King...that is what truly matters!

Garage/Rummage Sale Finds 04/12/12

Okay, normally I love to film this, but my husband accidently broke my charger for my handcam so posting a video right now is out of the question (of good quality). I may film it after I get a new charger. Sooo, lol, in the mean time I still want to share this, thus I am bloggin' my night away.

Today I went to a major sale with my friend, Lyds, and met my friend Meg there. It was chaotic! So many young mothers there looking at children's clothes and shoes. I was surprised to find that a former volleyball coach and her sister were hosting the sale.  I would have conversed with them more probably, but I actually was looking forward to being away from so many people. I know I can come across on youtube as a very outgoing gal, eager to gab away, but honestly, I am very uncomfortable being in small spaces with so many strangers. With my stroller in my hands, I pushed my baby doll between people that were half my size. I bumped into quite a few. In fact, when I flipped a shirt, I decided not to get, back on the table, I about knocked a woman out. I don't know if she realized the danger that almost impeded her, but if so she was a good actress and didn't seem to know I was even there...bless her heart.

I found a few cute things for my baby girl; some white tanks, a white tunic, glitzy gladiator shoes, and a floral shirt and pants that I thought would look perfect together. Most of what I got was for myself.  Normally, I go all out with shopping for her and a little or nothing for myself, but there really wasn't too much that was her size.

Today's LOOT:

For baby...

Children's shoes were two dollars a pair. These are Tori's first gold gladiator sandles!

Didn't come as a set, but looked made for eachother. How adorable!

White summery fun shirts always make me smile :)

I love this! IT'S WHITE! LOOKS COMFY! AND IT HAS LACE!!

For myself...

Pink ruffled skirt. I can't wait to sport this around with a black blazer and white dress shirt.

While I do have a more lacey pink wrap similar to this, I seem to like this black one more. It will go with more shirts in my wardrobe better than a dusty pink rose one.

A sheer grey loose fitting blouse with black lace along the neckline.

Close up of the black lace.

Turquoise blouse (also has matching lace along neckline)
Pink Nike Capri Sweats. Yes I know...finally something with no lace...of course I could always sew a little on... :P
I love the whole mentality of a large one shoulder shirt that has become really popular. This looks so comfortable!
Totally rocking this right now. It has black lace print on the front. But the tanks' straps have two rows of white lace frills. (Pink and peacock green/brown earrings from http://www.i-candycouture.com/ !)
Throw on some black flats, grab a bold bag and I'd be ready to rock 'n roll.

Black tee with gold reflects.
Closeup of gold reflects.

Floral Blouse.

Pink lacey black skirted dress.
Closeup of lacework.

Awesome rhinestones!
I'd rock jeans with this and tennis.

Another fun one shoulder long tee.

I am so glad I saved my tax money for clothes. I was able to get many shirts, a pair of pants, and a girly ruffled pink skirt from really good brands ( Old Navy, Mossimo Supply Co., Studio Y, xhilaration., maurices, nike, RXB, and charlotte russe.  All items together came to thirty-eight dollars! I love the details in the garments I purchased for myself. Lace, fluer de lis, oversized shirts that would be perfect for one shoulders, and even a wrap you just slip over your arms and the material frames your body!

Can hardly wait to go saleing again tomorrow!

Truvía® natural sweetener Product Review

About a month ago, I received a sample pack of Truvia natural sweetener (courtesy of http://www.influenster.com/) to test and review.  I must confess, I have been using Truvia for many years now. My health enthusiast husband actually introduced me to the product before we first married about three and a half years ago.  It is a more desirable alternative to sugar, and non-toxic in comparison to other artificial sweeteners that contain aspartame and other health compromising ingredients. Zero calories and safe; I love it! It also doesn't have an "odd off flavor" that other artificial sweeteners often provide.

Venus & Olay Razor Review

Since I first started shaving my legs and underarms as a teen, I have always reached for the cheap dollar brands. The ones that if you're lucky, you will get two uses out of, throw away, and have to buy more. Once I married my husband, I would use his mach3 handle with my own personal razor head. Then my skin would be stubby and dry.

About the product...
The following information can be viewed at: http://www.influenster.com/Product-Reviews/Gillette-Venus-Olay

For the first time ever, Gillette Venus, a global leader in female shaving, and Olay, a global leader in skincare, are coming together to deliver a gold standard in shaving with the new Gillette Venus & Olay razor. Venus’ best shaving technology works with Olay Moisture Bars, offering women best-of-both-worlds shaving and skin expertise. Olay Moisture Bars help lock-in moisture to your skin for less dryness, and with every smoothing stroke, Venus’ five blades shave you close.

Product Details
  • Venus’ five-bladed razors shave you close and adjust to women’s curves for a smooth and comfortable shave, even over tricky shaving areas like knees and ankles.
  • Olay Moisture Bars contain skin-enhancing elements found in Olay products: Petrolatum helps lock in skin’s moisture for less dryness and Glycerin helps offer that goddess glow! Just wet the razor to release a light lather – no separate shave cream required.
  • As with most Venus razors, new Venus & Olay also features a rounded, pivoting head designed for women’s curves, and a soft-grip ergonomic handle for confident control, even in wet and soapy environment

Where to Buy
A refillable Venus & Olay with one replacement cartridge sells for approximately $8.99-$10.99. Packages of three replacement cartridges are available for about $14.99 - $19.49.
Venus & Olay will be available starting March 15, 2012 at food, drug, convenience and mass merchandise stores throughout the United States.

My conclusion...

This past month I have been taking the venus and olay razor for a ride (I received this product free for review and testing purposes, courtesy of http://www.influenster.com/ through their program) and baby I'm not looking back! The razor had moisturizing bars that caressed my skin and left it lightly scented, while the five bladed razor showed the stubble who was boss! This razor I used again, and again with the same head for almost four weeks before it became dull.

Thank you http://www.influenster.com/ and www.gillettevenus.com for allowing me to try this product. I hope to attain some new heads soon.

Kiss Nail Dress Review

Several weeks ago, I received a dress nail kit called "Sexy" (a cute leopard print) courtesy of http://www.influenster.com/ , for testing and review purposes. Feeling somewhat apprehensive about trying the new kit, I set it aside for a few days. I had once tried a nail foil kit, and found I hated it. The nail foils looked like cheap stickers stuck to my nails. They didn't even look flush in my nail beds. I was concerned that I also would find this new set a disappointment as well.

However, when I tried them, I was amazed at such easy application. They looked like they were one with my nails. PERFECT! I might add, the package may say they can last up two ten days, but as a housewife who does chores, changes diapers, and cleans dishes by hand, I'd give them five days tops.  Nevertheless, I love them and excited to try more designs in the future.

About the product...

My conclusion...

I actually used this nail kit in an eighties inspired contest via video on youtube. I even had enough strip left over for my toe nails! There were plenty of sizes to work with. The strips are still on my toes now; they still look great and it has been three weeks!

I was thrilled to see more of this product at my local dollar general for only three dollars. What a bargain!

Thank you so much http://www.influenster.com/ and http://www.kissnaildress.com/  for allowing me to test this awesome kit! I look forward to doing some shopping soon!
