My May 2012 Favorites

   This past month I have been gravitating to various products.  Usually, every month I like to try new things or rediscover products I have already.  I am excited to share with you all my fun goodies I have been including in my daily routines.

   Just this past month, I had a huge shopping spree at http://www.i-candycouture.com, taking advantage of their very successful mother's day sale. I bought quite a selection of cosmetics and jewelry.  I have been totally addicted to my Hula Girl lip gloss from this online store. Honey, the owner of I-Candy Couture, had specially designed its scent for my order. It smells of coconut; of which I absolutely love.  Hula Girl offers just the lightest hint of pink. The texture reminds me of sherbet, and it is very moisturizing. Already, I am almost halfway through its container.

 During the move to our new home in the heat, I revisited a favorite from my teen years. I picked up a body mist from dollar general. I have been using the Calgon Hawaiian Ginger quite often.  It is so light and summery, and very refreshing.  The aroma in the forefront is white orchids.  It is an awesome pick-me-up on a hot day, with lots to do.

  I have been trying out a new peachy nude tone for every day makeup on my lid; it's called Hawaii Maiden, also from http://www.i-candycouture.com. I love its pinky reflects in it with the peach. Not too much shimmer. For a simple every day look, I apply it to my lid. Then I work Eclipse, a deep rich brown shadow also from I-Candy Couture, into my crease and outer v, using very sparingly. For highlight, I use a matte white on the brown bone, and inner tear duct area.

  To deepen this makeup look, turning it into a smokey I have been using my new Trax mineral eye shadow (also from http://www.i-candycouture.com) in the outer v.  Finding that using a very small amount, it creates a very sexy, sultry look. I love the glittery reflect in it.  It can turn any smokey into something daring and edgy.  With a hint of this shadow, I transform my everyday look into something perfect for the evening.


    Finally, having mastered the illusion of having cheek bones, I now use a new bronzer (the NYX Day Dream of  that even offers its own special separate compartment for the application pad.  The shimmers are amazing, and a little goes a long way.
  It blends very well with my XOXO blush from http://www.i-candycouture.com, which I use religiously in my everyday application. And I often use just enough to shift the sunlight on my temples and forehead.

  This month has been crazy. From the packing, to unpacking, and to cleaning two different places.  I look forward to slowing down again, picking up my makeup brushes, trying out new makeup looks and making some new tutorials.  As for now, I wish everyone an awesome weekend.

I-Candy Couture's Monthly Product Spotlight:" Audrey" Eye shadow and Lacey Earrings

  About a week and a half ago, I received a few products from Honey at http://www.i-candycouture.com .
  I was sent the promo item for December, Audrey, a beautiful turquoise green loose eyeshadow pigment, packaged in a sample clam shell container. Also, enclosed in my package was a sweet personal note from Honey herself, business cards, and "Lacey Earrings" for my Christmas gift.
  Since I have received my handcrafted lace earrings, I have been wearing them almost everywhere. I have been stopped many times by fellow fashion oriented women asking what they were and where I got them.  After talking with a friend at church last Sunday, I called Honey and asked her how much she would charge once she puts them up for sale on http://www.i-candycouture.com .  She said they would be for four dollars.  By far, this is one of my favorite pieces created by my dear, friend.

   I took my eye shadow, Audrey, for a test drive today, creating an inspired look derived from a combination of Niki Minaj's makeup from her performance for the New Years Eve 2012, and bright tropical colors from the summer time (it is winter here now, so I long for warmer temperatures, already).

Last week I talked to a dear friend of mine, Honey, I had met on youtube. I have known her for a while; she has been one of my early subscribers to my youtube channel.  I found last month, that she has her own company called I-Candy Couture. Honey sells all kinds of  affordable accessories ranging from the cute, blinged out, to lovely handcrafted items. At present she sells jewelry, hats, hair accessories, and has plans to bring in clothing and even handbags (I am looking forward to her new hair accessories coming out!). Her company's mission is to provide show stopping accessories at very reasonable prices for today's women on a budget.

   I received my "welcome packet" today, as Honey has so graciously accepted me as one of her promoters. I was delighted to find in my package a pair of gorgeous, turquoise, shell dangle earrings.    I showed my mother this beautiful pair of earrings and was surprised by her response. She loved them! Mother and I have very different tastes in regard to earrings. She likes studs; I love dangles and chandeliers. We both are not into the major turquoise trend right now, but there is just a little touch of turquoise in the earrings I was sent and not too much to make it look "over done." I truly love handcrafted accessories and even more so when they are created by friends!
